The nationwide temporary suspension on evictions issued by the federal Center for Disease Control (CDC) on September 4, 2020 has been extended through March 31, 2021 - but only for qualified tenants. For more details about the extension, see the CDC’s Frequently Asked Questions.
To qualify, you must show that you:
Have used best efforts to obtain all available government assistance for rent or housing.
Satisfy one of the following income qualifications:expects to earn no more than $99,000 in annual income for calendar year 2020 (or no more than $198,000 if filing jointly); or
was not required to report any income to the Internal Revenue Service for calendar year 2019; or
received a stimulus check under the CARES ACT.
Are unable to pay the full amount of its rent due to:
a substantial loss of household income;
a reduction in work hours or wages;
a lay-off; or
extraordinary out-of-pocket medical expenses.
Are using best efforts to pay as much of its rental obligation as possible, after considering other nondiscretionary expenses.
Would be rendered homeless or forced to move into a shared-living setting as the result of an eviction.
However -- even if you do qualify for this eviction suspension, you will still owe all of the rent, which you will need to pay after the suspension expires.
To take advantage of this suspension, you must fill out this Declaration Form and provide it to your landlord.
