Marketing & Communications Assistant
Position Overview
Good Samaritan Advocates seeks a temporary Marketing & Communications Assistant in support of our mission to provide free legal assistance for low-income and marginalized neighbors in need in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Alexandria, and Montgomery Counties of greater Washington, DC. By serving our neighbors in need through legal aid, advocacy, and the transforming grace of Jesus Christ, we seek to provide hope and help break cycles of injustice for our most vulnerable neighbors.
This role is an opportunity to gain experience leading, advising and driving the social media operations and strategy for the advancement of the mission of Good Samaritan Advocates. Responsibilities include:
· Re-establishing and setting up GSA’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts;
· Managing marketing content to socialize and use in social media platforms;
· Building a social media audience;
· Integrating keyword priorities into the content marketing plan;
· Creating updated Google My Business postings;
· Creating monthly editorial calendar and marketing content for social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), including a plan for content leading up to Giving Tuesday;
· Providing assistance with communications content development and advertising for GSA’s Fall Fundraiser; and,
Tracking social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.
The Marketing & Communications Assistant reports to the Executive Director and coordinates messaging with others on the GSA team.
Position Duration
This is a part-time position of 5 hours per week. The Marketing & Communications Assistant will be compensated at a rate of $10/hour.
Internship Expectations:
● Experience in digital marketing/social media marketing
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Excellent internet research skills
● Strong working knowledge of the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
● Knowledge of social media analytics software, or ability to quickly learn how to utilize social media analytics, including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
● Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software
● Confidentiality and respect for clients, GSA volunteers and staff
● Self-starter with diligent work ethic and proven dependability
